Hayek on Social Science Facts

This video covers Friedrich Hayek’s highly-philosophical essay titled “The Facts of the Social Sciences” which was first published in 1943. In this essay, Hayek lays out his vision for the methodology of the social sciences. He argues against several views of the time, including logical positivism, collectivist positivism, and the German historical school. Hayek supports what has been called methodological individualism, in which he stresses the subjective in human affairs and argues that we must make sense of objective facts by explaining them in terms of what individual humans believe.
